Role Summary/Purpose
- Internal    As a key member of the GE Africa Communications team reporting into the Director of Corporate Communications and supporting the Senior Human Resources Manager for GE Africa, this is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional with a minimum of 5 years experience to help drive internal communications throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. We are looking for a team player who will bring new ideas and the ability and track record for execution.
Essential Responsibilities - Internal    This role will be responsible for helping create engaging employee communications to drive simplified understanding and appreciation of GE's vision, strategy and organizational initiatives, The communications specialist will create, distribute and measure strategic internal communications using digital platforms and technology including insideGE, webcasts, videos, broadcasts, e-mail and events.
The candidate must have strong digital knowledge, strong writing and editing skills, the ability to write for online audiences, and strong project management skills.

Manage the internal communications rhythm and content to employees across the region – newsletters, CEO notes, Executive messaging, events, webcasts etc…
Leverage new technology to develop new channels, tools and vehicles to keep GE employees informed and engaged, while increasing two-way communication.
Support development of grassroots effort and research new ways to enable employees to better tell the GE story and identifying success stories in the process.
Help drive employee engagement for a variety of global GE initiatives including healthymagination, ecomagination, healthAhead, etc.
Creation of online portals, employee contests and strategic messaging.
InsideGE and GE News newsletter: Develop write and edit stories for company intranet and newsletter. Drive and measure readership. Review and respond to employee comments. Manage posting of content and imagery.
Support, promote and cascade messages from executive communication events including email updates, videos, webcasts, CEO global employee broadcasts, earnings and leadership meetings.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business communicators, providing support to ensure Company-wide programs reach the Sub-Saharan Africa audience.
Support Diversity and affinity network communications leaders on employee messaging, PR and event sponsorship.
Support special projects, events and handle occasional media requests related to employees.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Internal    Minimum 5 years communications experience.
BA/BS Journalism, Communications or related field preferred.
Kenyan or Nigerian Citizenship or ability to live/work in Kenya or Nigeria without restriction.
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills required.
Digital and new media experience required.
Project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
High energy, leadership ability and team-oriented.
Must be a self-starter.
PC Skills: Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Photoshop and familiarity with video, web and new media technology.
